Vibration Monitoring
- Overview
- Vibration Sensor GP-2
- Vibration Sensor GP-3
- Vibration Sensor GP-4
The sensors measure air gap /axial shift (GP-2) or root-mean-square (rms) value of the vibration speed in one (GP-4) or one/three mutually perpendicular directions (GP-3). GP-3 and GP-4 can be used in the systems of vibration diagnostics, thanks to the capability of sending arrays of values, proportional to the instantaneous acceleration. The arrays can then be used to calculate spectral components of vibration with fast conversion by Fourier.
The sensors are based on RISC-controllers with required periphery. All the conversions of the input signal are done inside the sensors, that allows to:
- Improve resistance to noise
- Improve accuracy of measurement
- Avoid the use of additional converters.
GP vibration sensors can be used in explosion-risk areas and have the following specifications:
- Explosion-proof level in form of a special shell and circuit:
- flameproof enclosure, Exd: GP-2 and GP-3
- intrinsic safety, Exi: GP-2, GP-3, and GP-4
- Ingress protection – IP67
- Operating temperature range – -60 … +80 °C (-60 … +85 °C for GP-4)
- Operating voltage – 12…24 VDC (12…26 VDC for GP-4)
- Data exchange interface – RS-485, Modbus RTU
- Software calibration and configuration of the sensors with ConfigGP tool, supplied together with the sensors
For the connection into the existing automation systems, GP vibration sensors have modifications with unified analog output, 4…20 mA.
To provide protection of the equipment without integration into the automation systems, the sensors can be ordered as sensors-switches. In this case, warning and emergency setpoints are written into the internal memory of the sensor during configuration. After reaching the corresponding level, the sensor forms a digital, “open drain”, signal.

The sensor was designed to be used in vibration monitoring and protection systems at the power stations, oil pumping stations, gas compressor stations, and other industrial objects. The sensor can be installed into explosive areas of the premises and external installations, where flammable vapor and gas-air-mixtures of the categories IIA, IIB, IIC of the groups T1-T5, could be formed.
The sensor detects a measurement of the air gap (axial shift) between face of the sensitive part of the sensor and object surface (rotor shaft).
FEATURES
- Axial shift measurement – air gap between the face of the sensitive part of the sensor and object surface (face of the rotor shaft)
- Data exchange via RS-485 (Modbus RTU protocol)
- Output of the signal as a unified current at 4-20 mA
- Comparison of the measured parameter to the limit setpoints, stored in the non-volatile memory of the sensor
- Generation of statuses (Warning and Failure) and generation of discrete signals to the external devices in case of exceeding the set limits (sensor-relay)
- Remote configuration of the parameters: network address, communication speed, warning and failure setpoints; remote calibration of the measured channel
DESIGN
- Housing material – nickel-coated steel
- Explosion protection type – explosion-proof shell
